Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 2026

Beta platform, educational use only. HVACSkool is currently offered as a beta learning platform, provided free of charge to readers of the underlying book. Content may change, features may break, and the Service may be unavailable from time to time. Nothing on HVACSkool is a substitute for professional HVAC instruction or the advice of a licensed technician.

These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of hvacskool.com and the associated learning platform (the “Service”), operated by HVACSkool (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account, accessing the Service or clicking to accept these Terms anywhere on the Service, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.

2. Beta status of the Service

The Service is offered as a beta product. This means:

  • Features, layout, content and scoring may change at any time.
  • The Service may experience downtime, bugs, data loss, progress glitches or incorrect calculations.
  • Course content may be added, removed, reorganised or rewritten.
  • We may suspend, limit or withdraw the Service in whole or in part at our discretion without notice.

Because the Service is currently provided free of charge to readers of the underlying book, you acknowledge that it is offered “as is”, without any warranty of availability, uptime, accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose.

3. Educational content & accuracy

Content on the Service — including but not limited to lessons, diagrams, quizzes, interactive simulations, calculators and troubleshooting scenarios — is provided for general educational purposes only. Content is compiled from a variety of sources including textbooks, manufacturer documentation, public internet resources and material drafted with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

As a result, content may contain errors, omissions, simplifications or outdated references. We make no representation that the Service is accurate, complete, current, code-compliant in your jurisdiction or fit for any specific purpose. You should verify any critical information (including but not limited to codes, tolerances, pressures, voltages, part numbers and safety procedures) against current manufacturer documentation, local codes and a licensed HVAC professional before acting on it.

4. Safety & assumption of risk

HVAC, refrigeration and electrical work are hazardous activities. They involve risks including electrical shock, burns, frostbite, asphyxiation, refrigerant exposure, fire, explosion, chemical injury and falls from height. You acknowledge that:

  • The Service is not professional training, apprenticeship, certification, licensure or instruction.
  • You will not rely on the Service as the sole basis for performing any real-world HVAC, refrigeration or electrical work.
  • You are solely responsible for your own safety, the safety of others and compliance with applicable laws and codes.
  • You assume all risk arising from any action you take based on content accessed through the Service.

5. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used to violate these Terms, to share access without authorisation, to scrape or redistribute content, or to abuse the Service.

6. License to use the Service

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own, non-commercial, educational use. You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, resell, republish, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service or its content.
  • Scrape, data-mine, automate access to, or bulk-download lessons, interactive components, audio or diagrams.
  • Share your account or access credentials with anyone else, or use the Service on behalf of a third party without our permission.
  • Attempt to bypass any access gate, section-gating, chapter-gating, anti-piracy or authentication mechanism.
  • Use the Service to develop a competing educational product or to train a machine-learning model.
  • Remove, alter or obscure any copyright, trademark or ownership notices on the Service.

7. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the Service — including software, design, lesson text, diagrams, interactive components, branding, names and logos — are owned by HVACSkool or its licensors. Third-party names, standards references and trademarks mentioned in the content (for example, NATE, EPA, ASHRAE, NEC, manufacturer names) belong to their respective owners and are used only for educational reference.

8. Your feedback and messages

When you submit feedback, support messages, questions or other content to us through the Service, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, store and reproduce that content solely for operating and improving the Service. Do not submit anything confidential, defamatory, unlawful, or that infringes anyone’s rights.

9. Payments & refunds

Access to the Service is currently provided free of charge to readers of the underlying book as a bonus. Because no monetary consideration is charged for access, no refund of Service fees is payable. If in the future we introduce paid features, separate payment and refund terms will be displayed at the point of purchase and will apply in addition to these Terms.

10. Third-party links & the book

The Service contains links to external sites, including Amazon (where the underlying book is sold) and manufacturer/code-authority websites. These links are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for, and do not endorse, the content, products, services, accuracy or practices of any third-party website. Purchases of the book on Amazon are governed by Amazon’s own terms and are between you and Amazon (and, where applicable, the book’s seller).

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, uninterrupted access or data loss. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that it will be error-free, or that content will be accurate or current.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HVACSkool, its owners, contributors, affiliates, service providers and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages — including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, equipment damage, loss of profits, loss of earnings, loss of data, business interruption, regulatory fines or reputational harm — arising from or related to your use of the Service or any content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you arising from or related to the Service shall in no event exceed USD 50 (fifty US dollars), or the amount (if any) you have paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless HVACSkool, its owners, contributors and affiliates from and against any claim, loss, damage, liability, cost and expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to (i) your use of the Service, (ii) your breach of these Terms, (iii) your violation of any law or any third-party right, or (iv) any real-world action you take based on content you accessed through the Service.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms and any dispute arising from them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which HVACSkool is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of that jurisdiction shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the law of your place of residence grants you an unwaivable right to bring proceedings in your local courts. You agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us at support@hvacskool.com before filing a formal claim.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves or as required by law. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change. Material changes may also be announced through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after a change indicates that you accept the revised Terms.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, compromised the Service or abused content. Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law shall survive termination.

17. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior understanding.

18. Contact us

For any questions about these Terms, to report a concern or to exercise a right, email support@hvacskool.com.
